iPad: What's in a name?

Apple just announced its long-awaited tablet device and they've dubbed it the iPad. Upon hearing this,  I immediately tweaked a number of my female friends to see if they were laughing as hard as I was.  They were.  I guess Jobs thought it was time to bring feminine products into the digital age.  SNL is going to have a lot of fun with this one. The possibilities are endless.  I won't go into them on this blog; I'll leave that fun to others.

Of  course, I don't think people will not buy the device because they find the name hilarious- it just will be hard for the male half of the population to walk into an Apple store and ask for one.  But then I'm sure the people at Apple thought long and hard about the name before they settled on it - it wasn't exactly a long stretch from iPod.  The device does look interesting and I'll look forward to reading the reviews, but for now I'm just laughing.  Thank you, Steve Jobs, for making my day!
